NO HOLIDAY FOR NPOWER NTEACH VOLUNTEERS:
The senior special assistant to the president on job creation explained that the Npower program is a paid volunteer program and therefore since the volunteers will be paid for the period that schools are on vacation, they need to work. He explained that rather than the Nteach volunteers seeing the holiday period as a time to sleep more and watch TV, they should participate in all the summer vacation programs organized by the schools they are assigned to. He also encouraged them to organize their own programs or extracurricular activities aimed at giving back to the society.
On #it takes a village, he explained that it is an Npower concept that is focused on community or group action. Volunteers are encouraged to form clusters or groups and come up with creative ideas that will impact their host communities positively. Any useful idea that will benefit the community positively is welcome. In explaining the #ItTakesAVillage concept further, npower Nigeria later wrote this status update on its Facebook page:
Many of you would have heard the term "It Takes a Village" but may have wondered what it meant.
Literally, it is a proverb which means it takes a community to raise a child.
In the N-Power context, we think it means Community Action.
#ItTakesAVillage is an opportunity for N-Power Volunteers in the same community to do something for their community weekly or as often as they'd like.
And when you do, post pictures and videos with the hashtag #ItTakesAVillage.
Please note that this is NOT compulsory but volunteers who show the most impact in this community action will win some reward from us.
Get together in groups, do something kind for your neighbours, show them you have been #NPowered and you can make a difference because #ItTakesAVillage

START LOOKING AT LIFE AFTER NPOWER NOW. NO GUARANTEE FOR EMPLOYING VOLUNTEERS.
The Npower Nigeria number one man has also advised the volunteers to start looking at life after the npower program. He reminded them that there are no plans to give them permanent employment and as such, THEIR FUTURE IS IN THEIR OWN HANDS. Mr. Afolabi Imoukhuede stressed that volunteers must not lose sight of the fact that they have spent about nine months in the program leaving them with about 15months to exit the program. Npower volunteers are advised to make the most of the learning materials on the npvn (npower volunteers network) portal. Giving examples of what volunteers might do now to help themselves as they prepare for life after npower, he encouraged them to look at entrepreneurship, investment in agriculture, setting up shop, various forms of retailing, etc. Interestingly, he hinted that some state governments such as Edo and Kogi states have promised eemployment for outstanding volunteers. Npower volunteers must, therefore, work hard to prove themselves worthy of consideration for employment.
Closely tied to the preparation for life after npower is another catchy hashtag from npower called #PassionToProfit. Mr. Afolabi explained that there are three legs of the stool that makes up the #PassionToProfit which are: learn, work and entrepreneurship. In one sentence, the #PassionToProfit means that npower volunteers should consider areas in which they have passion, and see how they can convert that passion to profit. Volunteers are encouraged to learn not just from the npvn platform or the npower devices but also from their host communities, their ppatients or students, in fact, 'learn anywhere and anyhow'. Apply what you have learned to your work and engage in entrepreneurship for profit but do your entrepreneurship in such a way that it does not impede your services in the npower program.
LAGOS NPOWER VOLUNTEERS SHOULD FORGET ABOUT DECEMBER AND JANUARY PAYMENT
Npower Nigeria has made it clear that lagos npower volunteers should forget about December and January payment or stipends. Npower advised Lagos volunteers to concentrate on and enjoy their payments from February forward as those are the payments they are entitled to. He explained that npower is a program where you are paid as an active volunteer: you must work to receive pay. Since lagos state npower volunteers were verified and deployed in February, they are only entitled to payments from February forward and not any previous months.
WHY ABOUT TWO THOUSAND PEOPLE WITH CORRECT BVN AND ACCOUNT NUMBERS ARE NOT PAID
The npower boss has explained that there are about two thousand persons whose BVN details as well as account numbers are correct but who have not been paid in the npower scheme. Mr. Afolabi explained that these persons were not paid because they have not linked their BVN to their account numbers. These persons are advised to go to their banks to ensure that the account is linked with their BVN as soon as possible. You will recall that the npower nigeria boss has said in the last video that those who could not be paid at the end off July will be dropped from this system. However, npower has decided to exercise a little more patience but will be left with no choice but to drop them soon. Those having this problem are therefore advised to act ASAP.
WHY THE NPOWER NTEACH ASSESSMENT TEST WAS POSTPONED TO 9TH AUGUST
Npower explained that it had to postpone the nteach assessment test to 9th August because of the 2.5million applications it reeceived.
