poll: I’m not running with Lamido – Amaechi
Rivers State
Governor, Chubuike Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed reports that he had been
anointed by certain forces within the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to
run for vice presidency in 2015.
The report,
which was published by a tabloid on Monday, quoted unnamed sources close to
former President Olusegun Obasanjo, as having endorsed Amaechi and his Jigawa State
counterpart, Sule Lamido, to run on a joint ticket as presidential and vice
presidential candidates respectively.
But in a
swift reaction, Amaechi denied nursing any political ambition in relation to
2015. The governor, who spoke through his information commissioner, Mrs. Ibim
Semenitari, described the reported political ambition as the imagination of
political speculators, which has nothing whatsoever to do with him.
Semenitari
said, “the information was shocking to us here in Rivers State
because the governor has no such political ambition. He does not have any plan
for 2015 as we speak.
In spite of
Amaechi’s denial of his joint ticket with Lamido, former Niger State Governor,
Engr. Abdulkadir Kure, yesterday, blasted former President Olusegun Obasanjo
for attempting to cause trouble in the North.
Kure, who accused the
former president of messing up the country, pleaded with him to mind his
farming business and allow the North to sort out themselves, as they were
capable of doing so.
