However, the focus of this post is how to check your data balance on the airtel night plan. Here is why this info is very important: the airtel night plan has no USSD code which you can use to check your data usage. The implication is that if you are downloading, you might not know when you have exhausted the data allocated to you and they will start collecting your airtime. As you should know, using airtime to browse directly without a data bundle subscription is one of the biggest mistakes you can make in the browsing world. The reason is that before you say Jack, your airtime will be exhausted without achieving anything.

How to Check Balance On Airtel Night Plans

The trick is very simple. Randomly open your browser and try to visit a website particularly http://www.facebook.com. If your data has been exhausted, you will see the image below

The page reads as follows: use facebook on airtel even without data. Your current data balance is 0, but you can use facebook even with zero balance on Airtel. No data charges apply.

Once you see this, Just know that your Airtel trybe data plan has been exhausted. Switch off your data until you subscribe for a new data plan on the airtel network.

Airtel has been known for something not so palatable with their data plans: they literally zap data. Although this promo of free 1.5gb or 3.5gb data on airtel has been on since early April, I was reluctant to write about it because of their reputation for grazing data like a cow is grazing which I have already explained above. However, I decided to write about it because the free data is given on an android plan (that means less zapping). Also, because of the persistent poor network issues on all the networks, it is many times necessary to have a backup data plan on another network. There are times when I will subscribe to Glo, Airtel and MTN at thesame time and yet, on some rare occassions, all three will ddisappoint you simultaneously! So whether you are subscribing for a backup plan, or as your main plan, you will need to go for a data plan that is most cost effective.

HOW TO GET FREE 1.5GB DATA ON AIRTEL

Normally, airtel has an android plan where you are given 1gb of data for N1,000 by dialing *496#. This is called the android 1.0 plan and it is valid for 30days as well as usable on all devices. Data cap on this anndroid 1.0 plan  was later reviewed upward from 1.0gb to 1.5gb.
However, there is a new promo that allows you to have exgtra 1.5gb completely free. All you need to do is to load you line with thesame N1,000 and dial *496*2#

HOW TO GET FREE 3.5GB DATA ON AIRTEL

Normally, airtel has an android data plan called android 2.0 which gives you 3.5 gb of data, valid for 30 days at the cost of N2,000 and is available by dialing *437#. However, with the latest development, you can get an extra 3.5gb data completely free. All you need to do is ensure that you have thesame N2,000 on your line then  dial *437*2#. You will receivee an extra 3.5gb of data in addition to the normal 3.5gb making it a total of 7gb of data

NOTE: The free 1.5gb and 3.5gb data might not be open to every subscriber. However, it is better you try and find out you are not eligible than you dont try and then you miss out on the free data offers. the data offer allocated to you on each subscription is valid for 30 days.
