GTBANK has remained top of the pack in rolling out innovative services that makes banking services breeze for its customers. They never seem to run out of ideas in innovating efficient, safe, convenient and fast banking services!
From social banking to recharge card purchase via text, the bank is still setting the pace. Their latest introduction is the SMS money transfer. With this new service, you need no internet connection, no smartphone,no computer,no ATM machine to effect a cash transfer from your GTBANK account to other GTBANK accounts or even non GTBANK accounts. Hurray! Even your Nokia torch light can now be used to transfer money. Hmm, is your phone more archaic than the Nokia 3310, no problem, they got you covered too!
SO HOW DOES THE SYSTEM WORK?
Note: The line from which you are effecting the transfer must be the line which is associated with your Gtbank account. This is the line on which you receive alerts and other messages from the bank!!!!!!
If Transferring To a Gtbank Customer,
Simply dial *737*1*Amount*NUBAN account number#
Where nuban account number is the new ten digit account number in use now.
You will get a prompt to confirm your transfer to the customer(the customer name will be automatically displayed for you) by typing the last four digits of your ATM card. Once you do that, voila! You have completed the process. A successful message will be displayed once done correctly and You will now receive an alert on your phone as usual.
If transferring to a Non-Gtbank Customer,
Simply dial *737*2*Amount*NUBAN account number#
Where nuban account number is the new ten digit account number in use now.
Next will be a prompt to choose the beneficiary bank. E.g FBN for first bank of Nigeria, DBN Diamond bank of Nigeria, etc
You will get a prompt to confirm your transfer to the customer(the customer name will be automatically displayed for you) by typing the last four digits of your ATM card. Once you do that, voila! You have completed the process. A successful message will be displayed once done correctly and You will now receive an alert on your phone as usual.
The only enemy to this system is the one we know already which is Bad network and normal system failure. If any of this should arise, you will get a prompt to try again that the process was not successful or there was an error.
This is a new and welcomed development. However, it has its challenges with respect to security from fraud. That will be the subject of our next discussion.
